Steven Seagal Hair

Seagal with his 1st wife, somewhere in the 80s
Steven Seagal was – and still is to some extent – one of the world’s most famous action stars, acting in high-kicking and fast paced movies since the late 80s and till now. With his massive physique and aptitude at various martial arts, he was always well prepared for a life as an action film star, but even he couldn’t have predicted just the amount of fame he would gain throughout the years. One thing that has constantly followed him throughout the whole of his career though is rumors regarding his hair loss and, more specifically, the different ways in which he has attempted to cover it up.
Seagal’s career started in the mid-1980s, but undoubtedly his big break came in the 1990 movie Hard to Kill. After this he became hot property and went on to appear in Under Siege, The Glimmer Man, The Patriot, Exit Wounds and Clementine, amongst others. In more recent times he has also had his own television show, where he takes viewers along during his time as a volunteer police officer in his native Louisiana. Other than this, he is still devoted to martial arts and is one of the most highly respected practitioners of his chosen art in the whole world.
The rumors regarding Seagal’s hair have dogged him throughout his career though, mainly due to the fact that his hairline seems to change at a rapid rate. Seagal’s first movies actually saw him with a receding hair line, but as time wore on he developed what is known as a “widow’s peak” which – in many peoples’ opinions – was a huge improvement. Thing is, his hair seems to thicken more and more over the years, which seems against nature so what was happening?
One rumor is that he used to use a large amount of concealer during the 1990s, which gave the effect that he had the aforementioned widow’s peak, but that he decided to stop this due to the large amount of criticism he was getting from fans and critics alike. In fact, some people often suggest that at times he had more concealer on his head than actual hair, although this is certainly an exaggeration. That would explain nicely why his hair seemed to grow and then fade away just as quickly.
Other people say that Seagal went through a hair transplant in the 1990s, but they are undoubtedly incorrect when it comes to this suggestion. no HT can look so thick and heavy. His hair in many movies does not look natural.
In my opinion, Seagal used concealers & hair pieces. Sure he might have had HT, it makes a lot of sense, but it may not ended up with the perfect results required for the big screen. Still I don’t care much, and so all his fans. What I do care about it – when is his next movie hits the boxes.. unfortunately, most of his movies in the past 10 years are B or C movies that never got to the big screen but directly to the DVD shops, Seagal himself looks older (after all he was born in 1955) and gained lots of extra weight, but still is one of the most distinguished Aikido Senseis in the world (the only western artist who was invited to teach in Japan), and I hope that he will recapture his position in the theaters.
In conclusion, Seagal’s hair undoubtedly was cosmetically altered during the early 1990s, probably by the use of a well-applied concealing product and hair pieces. He has never spoken publicly about this though and so it looks like the secrets of the magically appearing and reappearing Seagal hairline will never fully be understood by his fans and be merely a subject for speculations.
