Propecia vs Provillus
Propecia is a medication that requires a prescription, to be taken on a daily basis. Each tablet contains 1mg finasteride which is the active ingredient and also other inactive ingredients – monohydrated lactose (110.4), microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinised starch, sodium starch glycolate, docusate sodium, magnesium stearate, talc, hypromellose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, titanium dioxide (colour E171), yellow and red ferric oxide (colour 172).
Provillus is an all natural supplement (no prescription required) and recommended daily serving is 2 tablets (taken before a meal for better digestion and absorbing). The most effective ingredient is Saw Palmetto, and it also contain other helpful ingredients such as nettle root, zinc, biotin, vitamin B6 & uva-ursi.
How do Provillus and Propecia Work?
Both products were designed to treat male pattern baldness.
Propecia has been clinically proven to stop hairloss or regrow hair in most users. Finasteride reduces the creation the the enzyme 5AR type II, which is required to create the DHT hormone, resulting with reduced DHT levels.
Provillus does the same, however there are no clinical studies made by pharmaceutical companies about it as it is a natural supplement. There are studies about the effectiveness of Saw Palmetto, and other ingredients that shows it’s effectiveness. In lab experiments, Saw Palmetto is reducing both 5AR enzymes I+II.
Propecia FDA Approval
Propecia is the only oral medication approved by the FDA for the treatment of hair loss in men.
Provillus is not FDA approved, as it’s natural and not a medication. There are no clinical studies on natural products, but there are many positive testimonials and customers feedback. Procerin shows a small study to prove its effectiveness, and since Provillus and Procerin are almost the same products, we can assume they get the same results. There are no formal clinical studies that prove that any Saw Palmetto product help, but it seams that the fact that these products are very popular as a Propecia alternative means it works.
When Can You Expect to See Results?
Hair grows slowly, and the effect of any treatment on the follicles may take time. Propecia can generate results even after 3 months (stop hair loss) but usually it will take at least 6 months before you can notice a change, some men see it only after a year.
The same with Provillus, at least 3-6 months if you are lucky.
Propecia vs Provillus Side Effects
Propecia include finasteride, a chemical that may cause sexual dysfunction (Low libido, erection problems or a decrease in the amount of semen) in less then 2% of men. Merck, the manufacturer claims that all side effects are temporary and go away when you stop using Propecia.
Provillus claim that there are no known side effects in their product as it is herbal, all-natural product. The only side effects people rarely report are mild gastrointestinal distress.
What is Better, Propecia or Provillus?
The question can be rephrased to – what’s better finasteride or Saw Palmetto?
Propecia / finasteride is an FDA-approved medication proven to prevent hair loss and re-grow hair mostly on the top of head (crown and vertex). Click here to order generic Propecia!
Provillus provides no evidence to indicate that it is actually an effective baldness cure. Saw Palmetto was never studies clinically, only in lab experiments. Click here to order Provillus!
There is no strict answer what’s better. The rule of thumb is that finasteride/Propecia is more effective. Millions are using it around the world. Provillus is a natural hair loss treatment, not medical, so the assumption is that it’s weaker. It’s all about you’re tolerance for medications vs natural hair loss remedies. If you refuse using finasteride or other medications, your choices are natural cures, and Provillus is one of the best oral solutions. If you have no problem with prescribed medications you will have to take every day for years, then Propecia is your choice – with proven results.
